GHK-Cu
research guide

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide studied for roles in skin remodeling, antioxidant activity and extracellular matrix support. A 2026 study combining GHK-Cu with a bacterial ferment extract reported in vitro, ex vivo and clinical skin benefits, though it tested a combination product rather than GHK-Cu alone. Additional evidence comes from animal wound-healing research and review literature; systemic or injectable human evidence specific to GHK-Cu alone was not identified in the sources reviewed.

01 · Start with identity

What is GHK-Cu?

GHK-Cu is best supported as a topical cosmetic ingredient studied in dermatology research; it is not an FDA approved drug for injectable use. Cosmetic-grade topical products and supplier research-chemical vials are different formulations and are not interchangeable based on the sources reviewed.

02 · Read the evidence

What the studies reported

01

Combination product with clinical component

A study combining a Thermus thermophilus and Bacillus subtilis ferment extract with tripeptide GHK-Cu reported that the combination outperformed either ingredient alone at inhibiting inflammatory cytokine secretion in vitro, protected human skin explants from UV damage ex vivo, and in a clinical component decreased wrinkles and improved skin barrier measures; this evidence concerns a combination formulation, not GHK-Cu used alone [1].

02

Animal wound-healing hydrogel research

A 2026 study developed an injectable hydrogel incorporating copper-peptide chemistry for sequential antioxidant and tissue-regeneration therapy in an animal model of radiation-induced skin injury [2].

03

Tripeptide wound healing review

A comprehensive review of tripeptides in wound healing and skin regeneration describes GHK-Cu among peptides with reported roles in collagen stimulation and antioxidant defense, based on cell and animal-level mechanistic study [3].

03 · Numbers in context

What does dosing evidence actually support?

The identified combination-product study did not isolate a GHK-Cu-only human dose; it evaluated GHK-Cu combined with a ferment extract in one topical cosmetic formulation. The animal hydrogel study used local, wound-site concentrations in a radiation-injury model rather than a systemic or injectable protocol. No validated GHK-Cu-alone human dosing protocol, topical or injectable, was identified in the sources reviewed.

A study dose is not a personal dose. Population, route, formulation and supervision are part of the result. Online community schedules are not treated here as established clinical protocols.

04 · Safety and limits

What not to overlook

  • The main human evidence identified tested GHK-Cu combined with another active ingredient, not GHK-Cu alone
  • Not an FDA approved injectable drug
  • Cosmetic combination-study formulations differ from supplier research-chemical vials and are not directly comparable
  • Copper-containing compounds carry dose-dependent oxidative stress considerations not fully characterized for supplier products in the sources reviewed

05 · Product distinctions

Names are not interchangeable

Reign Peptide lists GHK-Cu as a lyophilized powder (100mg/vial, greater than or equal to 99% purity by third-party HPLC per the listing), described by the supplier as for in-vitro research use only. This differs from the topical cosmetic formulations evaluated in dermatology trials cited above, which used finished skincare products rather than raw lyophilized peptide.

06 · Handling and storage

Follow validated product instructions

A single water volume, refrigerator temperature or expiry window cannot be assumed for every compound and formulation. Use the exact manufacturer documentation and a validated laboratory procedure. If stability, solvent compatibility or microbiological quality is not documented, those properties remain unverified.

Refrigeration, clear appearance and bacteriostatic water do not make an unverified research product suitable for injection. This guide does not provide a mixing or administration procedure.

The existing concentration calculator checks arithmetic only. It cannot choose a safe dose or establish compatibility, sterility or shelf life.

Questions still worth asking

What remains unresolved?

  • Does GHK-Cu alone, without a co-formulated ferment extract, produce measurable clinical skin benefits in a controlled trial?
  • How do systemic pharmacokinetics of injectable GHK-Cu compare with the topical absorption implied by the combination-product clinical results?
